Germany's first chronograph wristwatch was a Tutima, built in 1941. The founder's brother, Walter Kurtz, was a test pilot — the aviation connection wasn't branding, it was family. Around 30,000 built between 1941 and 1945. In 1984, rebuilt for the Bundeswehr when the industry had abandoned mechanical movements for quartz. In 1994, a faithful reproduction became one of the symbols of the mechanical watch revival.
