Grand Flieger for Grand Flyers

Tutima Prize of the Skies 2015: The Glashütte watch manufacturer Tutima honors the best pilots of the Deutschlandflug—father-and-son team tops the navigation category. That passion for flying can run in the family was proven impressively by Jan and Helmut Felderhoff: at the 5th Tutima Prize of the Skies, held during the Deutschlandflug from June 17–21, the father-and-son duo took first place in navigation flying thanks to teamwork and aeronautical skill. The helicopter flying category was won by Martin Eigner with co-pilot Thorsten Strohmaier. As a reward for cockpit precision, the top navigation team received a main prize whose DNA reflects aviation values: the Tutima Grand Flieger Classic Automatic (value: €1,900). Made in Glashütte and finished according to the rules of fine watchmaking, it is a classic in the best sense—built with the ambition to be passed from one generation to the next. Its timeless, robust exterior includes a stainless-steel case, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, a bi-directional knurled bezel with red marker, and displays for date, hours, minutes, central seconds, and weekday. Inside, precision comes from the automatic movement Caliber Tutima 330, with an antique-gray rotor with gold seal, 25 jewels, a 38-hour power reserve when fully wound, and water resistance to 20 atm. As a partner of the German Aero Club and main sponsor of the national powered-flight teams, Tutima has actively supported air sports for many years. With the Tutima Prize of the Skies, the Glashütte manufacturer underscores this passion for the fifth consecutive time—and will continue to engage wherever top performance inspires generations.
