Tutima: Successes in an Impressive Setting

Tutima successes before a grand backdrop

Kiel Week 2015 delivered sailing at its best—and Tutima was right in the middle of it. With 46 feet in length, a 23-meter mast and around 230 m² of sail area, the Tutima racing yacht was an unmistakable presence on the course. An equally striking feature: the inte ational women’s crew. From 20 to 28 June, the 14-person team led by skipper Kirsten Harmstorf thrilled spectators and achieved an outstanding sporting result in ORC I: third place. In front of a record audience of 3.8 million visitors from 70 countries, the sailors delivered a confident performance. Tutima’s commitment extended beyond the boat. As official timekeeper, the Saxon watch manufacture has been part of every Kiel Week race since 2005. Since 2010, Tutima has fielded its own women’s team on the 14-meter yacht at inte ational regattas. “Once a year KiWo—what a wonderful thing,” skipper Kirsten Harmstorf wrote on the Tutima Sailing Team’s Facebook page. Ute Delecate, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tutima, summarized the event: “Kiel Week 2015 was once again a top highlight in our event calendar. Our sailors steered the Tutima boat to an excellent third place. At our information stand at the harbor, we were able to present our watches to many water-sports enthusiasts. The response to our involvement was enormous this year.” The momentum continued shortly afterwards at Wa emünde Week (4–7 July), where the crew shone with second place—a confidence boost for the ORC European Championship in early August (Estonia) and the Inte ational German Championships in September. Tutima will continue to support the team as sponsor and to bring the brand into conversation among sailing enthusiasts—strengthening the brand image and benefiting its retail partners.n
