BASELWORLD 2015

The robust M2 “Made in Glashütte” continues the tradition of the Tutima Military Chronograph—engineered for the toughest operating conditions. What could still shake a watch that sets out to continue the success story of the Tutima NATO Chronograph—official service watch of German Federal Armed Forces pilots? With this new edition, the Glashütte manufacturer presented in Basel its proven principle of maximum functionality—and even surpasses it.

Proven quality, technical innovations, high-performance materials

The key feature of the M2 is its chronograph movement: it stands out with a large central minute counter. This conversion of the motion works—known from the Military—remains a protected Tutima in-house development and ensures optimal readability of the minutes being measured. Tutima’s Caliber 521 is based on an ETA 7750 “Valjoux”, extensively modified and finely adjusted in the Glashütte watch manufactory. It is securely housed in a solid case made of pure titanium with a strong, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and an additional Mu-metal inner shell. This nickel-iron alloy binds magnetic flux so it cannot reach the movement. Even at night, the M2’s functionality remains fully available: hands for time and chronograph functions, as well as hour markers, are coated with Super-LumiNova. A distinctive signature of the Pioneer model variant is the grippy rotating bezel with 14 luminous capsules. Set intervals remain clearly readable even in complete darkness. The M2 is a watch that delivers a little more than expected. A closer look at the titanium bracelet version underscores this: it comes in a case that additionally includes an ultra-robust Kevlar strap and a tool set for quick strap changes. With this new highlight in its Glashütte collection—premiered at BASELWORLD—Tutima focuses on a dependable companion for strong personalities. High-performance material: The M2 titanium bracelet version also includes a Kevlar strap. Ultra-light, extremely resistant and durable, Kevlar is used, for example, in ballistic vests, sailing, and aerospace. Ref. 6451-02. Pioneer model variant: reliable legibility even in complete darkness—its grippy bezel features flush-fitted glass luminous capsules and a large marker at “12”.
