Why This Watch

The chronograph has a central minute hand — a hand that sweeps from the center of the dial, like the regular minute hand. The module drives it from the center rather than a subdial. Tutima built it in-house. Caliber 521. The result: elapsed minutes read the same way as the time — at a glance, without squinting. Built in Glashütte, Germany's watchmaking capital since 1845. A manufacture chronograph from Glashütte, from €3,400.

“People come in asking for Breitling or Omega. We introduce them to Tutima. The ones that are willing to do their homework and compare — normally coming back buying one.”
